Prologue (SCROLL DOWN if u just wanna read the juicy bits of monsters vs aliens)

hmm… this preview screening started off funny =]

i went to the wrong place for the screening! LOL!

the screening was held at cineleisure but somehow… i rembr’d it as the cathay…

that wld be alright if i was early… but i was late (well 3 mins late)

… haha… now this is were the funny interesting bits start: i went to the box office explaining that i am here for the previewing screening of monster’s vs aliens 3D and this girl from cathay gave me like this giant envelop… i ripped it open only to find tons and tons and tons of tickets for their première on 28 May 09!! lol… there was probably the entire theatre tickets in there! LOL!

i went back to the box office trying to explain myself… but the girl was like so sure she handed me the right pack… i know right? i shld have just took the tickets… hahahaha!

either way finally her manger realize that i was supposed to be at cineleisure…..

somehow i mange to convince joie to make a run with me to cineleisure… with the help of the taxi uncle of course…

but the #%$% uncle cheated my money!!! fine i have to pay the 3 CBD charge plus peak hour blah blah… but he short change me… cos’ he noted as i in a hurry… and cldn’t care less abt the change… and he exploited that $%^#$%

either way i rush to the top of cineleisure… trying to find someone who has a clue on what i am saying abt the screening of monsters vs aliens… haha… thank goodness when we got to the theatre the girl who was issuing me my 3D glasses told me the the movie has not started and told me to calm down… i was like YEAH!!! haha

… now here is what i think of the movie!
[and the 3D effect]

To be honest when i first heard of the movie i was like woahhh… niccce another action movie… thinking in the lines of alien vs predator…. and DOUBLE WOAH in 3D! haha

then when i saw the poster… i was eh? dreamworks…. since when did dream works produce action trillers?!?!

then suddenly the other bits of the poster hit me…. OMY… it is actually a animated showww!!! haha

therefore when the film started to roll… i was expecting a childish show!

and childish humor can be FUN!

but wow! was i wrong…. well not really except for the super action triller bit… the movie though childish enough for kids to enjoy and go all GAGA abt all the cute characters… and slapstick

IT IS AN ADULT MOVIE TOOOOO!

the movie in fact would challenge how informed the adult is… almost every 5 lines u wld find a reference to something else from algore’s inconvenient truth to crazy frog’s techno to how UFO stuff always seem to happen exclusively in America… hahaha… it is a little like ‘gilmore girls’ where the script is infested with satires and references…

i won’t spoil it for u by telling u all the references made…. see how many u can spot…

the movie is also interesting… like it promotes or rather has the theme tolerance…. not in the sense that u get the deliberately inserted afro-americans or asians in… (in fact i don’t rmbr seeing either) … as we are so over the phase… but it elaborate on how people we find ‘monsters’ are have good qualities and might in fact be the hero… very Shakespearean…

omggg… sounds like my literature essay now… lol

either was i think the storyline makes it a really great movie… i mean it is not easy for the writers to create a pretty awesome action-scene movie yet not lose its kidding audience and PG max rating… haha

A little more about the 3D bit…

and for the 3D animation…. top notch… they brought ‘Shrek’ quality a whole new game with Intel’s InTru3Dtechnology. some interesting facts that made me appreciate the quality and work behind it:

“Ed Leonard, CTO of DreamWorks Animation, says it took approximately 45.6 million computing hours to make Monsters vs. Aliens, more than eight times as many as the original Shrek. Several hundred Hewlett-Packard xw8600 workstations were used, along with a large and powerful ‘render farm‘ of HP ProLiant blade servers with over 9,000 server processor cores, to process the animation sequence. The movie demanded 120 terabyte of data to complete, with one explosion scene alone requiring 6 TB.^[4]

AND i totally can swear by the sweat and handwork of the animators and intel’s technology… the entire 3D effect is really beautiful and realistic… till the extend that it can scare u say if a ball in the movie is throw at u… or say an explosion scene…

the movie literally has a POPS out of the screen effect

it is so good that .. people in the theater actually went “woAH”  when the film rolled…

what make it even sweeter is how cathay did a fabulous job in the entire 3D experience… gone were the days of flimsy ‘paper’ 3D glasses… now u get this beautiful solid ‘Dolby’ 3D glasses… and believe me they make a big difference… u don’t get the headache associated with 3D films…

this movie’s 3D was pure pleasure…. thanks to the ‘better Dolby’ glasses…

so good i wanna steal keep buy them… hhaha (but cathay don’t offer that yet though..)

and get this cathay actually sends them for professional cleaning! so it is H1N1 flu resistant! lol =)

IN SHORT this movie is sweeeeeeet… from kid’s perspective…. from adult’s perspective… from technical perspective…

totally awesome!

and somehow it did fulfill my expectation of this movie to be an action-triller [that even kids can watch]

oh haha… and if you were wondering why there isn’t any pictures of me at the event itself… cos’ i was ‘on time’ rmbr? haha

either way… didn’t had a chance to stand in front of the poster for a shot… but no worries… my macbook will take care  of that!

…and I DON’T get the movie LOL! …. like erm… it is nice but i don’t really know what the movie is about… ahha

it is like…erm.. young kids transported in time and they are kings? and queens? lol…

whatever… haha

anyway… hanging out with justin was still fun… haha

we went to like this place to eat…

… i think it is a sister company to ajisen… haha… cos’ it is called like aji-tei.. or something…

i did something so stupid…. haha… i forgot to turn on macro while taking the close ups… so… i not very pleasant shots… hmmm…

OMG so fugly right?… the focus… is like so horrible!… my photography skills… like so crappy now.. haha

does this look like oyster omelette? haha… i think it does… it taste similar too… justin gave this really “high” face while eating that …. guess he really loved it…
